The Emperor Speaks!

The festival of the stars was
in full swing as Pratt tried unsuccessfully to bring his vision back into
focus. After some effort, he decided nothing less then sleep would help with
this problem. Soul laughed as he watched his old friend trying to stop the
world from spinning and he wondered if Pratt even knew the girl who now sat in
his lap.
Grigory was obviously thinking the same as he eyed her ruefully and the females
present from the MOA staff were clearly displeased at the bosses behavior.
Pratt did not care as he and Kryptonite shared a hearty laugh over some of last
week's Star Wars escapades during the auction.
"The Emperor has Spoken" Pratt yelled as the barmaid fell from his lap onto the
ground. At this point DJ Scorp was up and the two managers were faux fighting
with light sabers sounds effects and all. Kryptonite and some of the patrons
that had decided to sit with the MOA crew a bit took their leave seeing the
chaos building. Smart move that turned out to be as the fake fight overturned
two tables and a keg of the finest ale in all the lands. At this wasted
beverage, Blessed Industry was actually in tears.
Ethereal tired of this childishness, grabbed the sleeve of Flagg, and the two
went off towards Vesper and the MOA house. Someone had to do some work the Head
Cashier/Event Manager thought to herself as they left the noise of the festival
behind. Since the others were busy merrymaking, this auction would be as she
liked and she might just teach Pratt a fine lesson and sell off some of his
most prize treasures reserved for special auctions only. At this suggestion,
Flagg blanched, wondering again what he had gotten himself into yet again,
cursing under his breath for not drinking more whilst he had the chance. "Well
heck let's see what kind of trouble we can get into" he stated as he allowed
Ethereal to lead him into the private chambers that she most certainly should
not have a key to. Tons of sparkling items assaulted his vision as the door
swung open.
Ethereal spoke ... "Let's take the Marble Table,
The Bin Laden V'Day card, The Rare Purple Bottle - that will make the crowd
cry. Grab that Blessed Engraved Ring. Let's see.... the Open Book, Some Barbed
Kits, Blood Tiles, Thin Hay, Ring of the Elements, Eye Of Newt, Full Set of
Tree Ornament Jewelry. Let's take that Bushel, and some of those Rare Statues
Pratt likes so much". Flagg was trying to see her passed the
armload of items that obscured his view. He clearly could not carry more then
he had but she was not done. "Uus Mani", she yelled and his load got easier to
bear while she added more items were on.
Crystal Balls, Potted Trees, Some Armor Pieces that Glow with Power, Necro
Regs, Blessed Sandals and a bag full of surprises that made Ethy smirk as she
lifted it. Presuming this would be enough, she asked Flagg to drag it all
behind the counter and scatter it about. "Let
Soul sort it out when the party is over I am done for today." On
the way out, a rune atop a silk cushion caught her eye - a gold key listed it
as Felucca Keep for Sale. Now no one had told her about this! Grabbing the rune
and key for the second largest house in these realms, Ethereal strode from the
anti-chamber, happily wrapped up in anticipation for this week's auction.
The next morning was very loud and a little blurry as Pratt awoke slumped
against a marble table portion that had been brought into the pit somehow. Soul
coughed himself into the new day as visions of rolled tobacco brought back the
wheezing and a bit of dizziness. Blessed refused to rise at all, pulling his
cloak tighter about and trying to ignore the world coming to life around him.
DJ Scorp was unconscious and snoring loudly. It was clear he would not be alert
for some time so they didn't even bother to whisper for his benefit.
Grigory had already left, or maybe he never made it back to the house at all.
None of them could recall. It did seem however that they put some thought into
this week's auction at some point since so many great items were locked down
all around. A bit surprised they were that they had chosen so many True Rares.
The men took stock of just what had been admitted to this week's list -
secretly wishing they could be in the audience themselves.
A glance at
Soul's Journal revealed the following items to be sold this week.
-
Marble Table Section
-
A Felucca Keep (rune is locked down at MOA on cashiers table)
-
Blood Tiles
-
An Open Book
-
GM Inscribed Ring reading "Amor Vincit Omnia Et Nos Cedamus Amori" (can be
Locked Down!)
-
A Valentines Card from Bin Laden Himself
-
Barbed Runic Pieces and Kits
-
Necro Reagents
-
Rare Named Christmas Statues
-
A Full Set of Tree Ornament Jewelry
-
A Bushel
-
A Server Birth Pink Bottle (maybe not until next week BUT VERY RARE)
...and more surprises being added as of this writing.

From the antlered desk of Kelwyn
I went to the
Chicken Fight Club last week just to see what all the buzz was about and I got
hooked on chicken fights! I am not good at guessing the winners though. At CFC
you must choose the top three chickens in order (known as trifecta betting).
Determined to find my own chicken to participate, I went forth and tamed a
chicken and began training him. I named him
The Colonel
in hopes of making him famous someday. I turned to the
CFC website for guidance and was greatly helped by
Whipple,
Henry Zoate, and
Linchpin.
The Colonel participated in his first fight tonight and lost spectacularly to
Big Red.
I learned that The Colonel's 6% Physical Resist was not enough.
"To have a top fighting chicken you need to get one with
10% resist!"
explained Henry Zoate.
So The Colonel
was permanently retired and I went in search of the Uber Chicken. I
certainly helped clean out the chicken gene pool by quickly eliminating all
that had less than 10% physical resist. There were a lot a dead chickens! At
last I found him:
Cluckzilla! Now to the training!
Tonight's fights were awesome with
MotherClucker, owned by
Bowen
coming first,
Rooster Cogbern, owned by CFC's own
Rachel
at second and
Big Red
owned by
Bowman
coming in third.
Defeated birds included
Cannibal Chicken,
CattleKiller
and
Memorex. At halftime there was a nightmare fight
with the returning champ,
EtherealMare
beating
Eddie. In between fights
Quistis Zoate
gave cash prizes for winners of King of the Hill trivia. In the audience
Kuan Ti,
Linchpin,
Lady Alexandra,
Pratt
and several newcomers all enjoyed the show.
Heart's Inc,
Michael's General Store
and CFC donated the prizes. Next week,
High Drama
will be the sponsor!
When you enter CFC you are given a goodie bag with runes to the sponsors, CFC
and some yummy food and drink. Not surprisingly, the food is usually delicious
fried chicken! Possibly from the losers? The chicken fights are not to be
missed. They happen every Saturday at 8PM EST. Be sure to come and enjoy the
show! If you have a chicken, bring it and enter! The

This just in
from an anonymous tipster...
DJ Scorp Meets the REAL Darth Vadar!!!
Hey... don't look at me! I don't verify our news stories...
I post 'em!!! :-)
Oh yeah, speaking of news stories... The "Dark Side" of the Force was present
at the auction house in the guise of the Wednesday staff! Star Wars Trivia
abounded as did prizes for everyone who showed up in costume.
My sources tell me that more of the same is expected at tonight's auction with
over 1 Million Gold being given away to those best dressed.
Oh... and my anonymous tipster said to expect a special surpise!

It appears MOA has been bitten
by the Star Wars bug! Instead of our usual tuxedo clad dealers, patrons were
met at the castle by the Dark Side of the force.
The Emperor (Keeper) waved his hands over the dice at the Hi/Low table while
Darth Vadar (Jo Jo) played Jedi Mind games with our dart throwing patrons.
However, the power of the Dark Side wasn't enough to overtake
Matrix
as he had tricks of his own. Summoning all the metaclorines in the universe,
Matrix
tossed a double bullseye and took home a One Million Gold Piece Check!
 |
| Pictured from left to right: Asajj Ventress, The Emperor,
Mara Jade, Zam Wessell, Darth Vadar, and Aurra Sing
|
Darth Maul (Walter), Boba Fett (Kelwyn), and Asajj Ventress (Grendlyn) gated
patrons to the castle while Mara Jade (Dosa) poured deadly Russian drinks, Zam
Wessell (Natasha) played Roulette, and the incredibly hot Aura Sing tossed the
Dice. Storm Troopers, pretending to be bank check vendors, guarded each exit.
The oddest costume
of the evening was found on Monty Hall himself who showed up as Jar Jar Binks.
He must not have understood the Dark Side theme??? No harm done. Jar
Jar's presence provided much needed target practice for his Evil Empire
cohorts!
It seems like Jar Jar did get a message to his lily livered Rebel Alliance.
They will be in action on Thursday at the auction house with Yoda
auctioneering. Both Wednesday and Thursday auctions are sure to have lots of
Star Wars Trivia, and cash rewards for most creative Star Wars costumes. Rumor
has it that MOA will be dropping at least 1 Million gold in prizes so grab a
light saber and join in the fun!

What's Up with MOA Feet?!?
|
|
Posted Sunday, May 15, 2005

From the Desk of Emerald Ice
The spirits were as cold as the rain outside and they were not getting any
better from the few figures that did come in from the storm. It was clear that
this auction was going to be a small one, but Piper and I couldn't let this
happen. So we grabbed up our sacks of gate scrolls and headed into the wilds of
the cities. I decided Luna was closer to my heart than Britain, or it could
have been that Piper was faster at calling it than I was. Whatever the case,
the spirits of the MOA staff seemed to rise everytime one of our loyal
customers went through our swirling gates of magic. My gate duty was cut short
by DJ tho he should've called Piper back in and not me as by the end of the
night she had more corns on her feet than there are Fan Dancers in the Dojo!
I returned to the auction house to find many lovely faces such as,
Lady Sadie
of Green Frog,
Ms Whipple of T
of Chicken Fight Club,
Lord Stallion,
Magnus,
Matrix,
Erricson,
Bracklin, and
Drako Maximillian, to name a few. Now with our
seats nearly filled and money being discussed, we decided it was best to start
the auction. The auctioneer for that night was Muntz, brokering was DJ, and
cashier was Blessed Industry. An anonymous female voice sprang forth a
different request for the night: That our male staff should work topless!
Wanting to appease our customers DJ was the first to complete the request, and
the other's followed after.
The first real bidding war of the night was between
Nordrada
and
Carpathian
over a potted plant that's minimum was 500k.
Nordrada
took it home for a mere 580k! The next striking event was when an Ethereal
Horse was placed on the table, and the minimum bid of 5k was spoken,
Deadpool, who incidently donated 1 Million Gold
for Trivia, showed how determined he was by placing a crushing bid of One
Million Gold. Next it was time for Simpsons Trivia, which was a suprise seeing
as it is the only show Muntz watches.
Kroplok
was the first 25k winner of the evening. Several rare bottles of hair dye hit
the table and I guess Jhelom's Mayor
Lord Rastus
must be fearing old age and grey hair for he bought every single bottle!
DJ had an extra smelly prize to go with his notoriously stinky feet... he gave
away fish caught by his very own hook! The first "lucky" winner was
Fifi LaForge
who chose the smaller of the two fish. Way to go, girl! If you can't eat it
all, there's not much to waste. The bigger fish went to
Lady Lava
with the bigger appetite or more friends, I suppose.
The closer for the evening was a server-birth Skull Candle - minimum bid of 5
Million Gold. There was a bidding war between
Deadpool
and
Erricson, but only one of them walked away with
a server-birth rare for 15.5 Million gold. I bet
Erricson's
head is gonna be high for a while, being glad he didn't break the 16 Million
marker.
At next Thursday's auction, MOA is hosting a Star War's theme. Everyone who
dresses up as a person in Star Wars will be awarded a prize, but the best
dressed wins a million gold!
May the Force be with you.

All aboard - Put her to sea! Boat Race on Lake

And lo! from the assembled crowd
There rose a shout, prolonged and loud,
That to the ocean seemed to say,
"Take her, O bridegroom, old and gray,
Take her to thy protecting arms,
With all her youth and all her charms!"
How beautiful she is! How fair
She lies within those arms, that press
Her form with many a soft caress
Of tenderness and watchful care!
Sail forth into the sea, O ship!
Through wind and wave, right onward steer!
The moistened eye, the trembling lip,
Are not the signs of doubt or fear.
Sail forth into the sea of life,
O gentle, loving, trusting wife,
And safe from all adversity
Upon the bosom of that sea
Thy comings and thy goings be!
For gentleness and love and trust
Prevail o'er angry wave and gust;
And in the wreck of noble lives
Something immortal still survives!
The mysteries of the seas are ever-lasting, and this Friday, May 13th, the
folks at MOA have decided to find out how many able-bodied sea-folk we have
swarming our shard!
Join us for an exciting race that will test your sailing skills throughly.
The event will start at 9pm Eastern time and Sign-up will begin half an hour
prior to launch at the MOA auction house within the Luna city walls. Gates will
be provided from major banks. Single sailors or teams of two are welcome to
compete for prizes totaling at over 10 million gold!

This Week at MOA
|
|
Posted May 11, 2005
|
|
A Lone figure stood on the deck
of the Large Dragon ship, which bore the name MOA's Day Off, the title was more
pipe dream than reality but it suited her just fine. DJ Scorp cast his line
into the sea again and again in search of deep-sea treasures or maybe even some
minnows to place in Pratt's pay bag. Scorp's thoughts were as always on the
upcoming auctions, but at least the view was better and the air more clear then
behind that auction pit and in the same room as Muntz's feet. Visions of the
items pile Soul had just sorted through were coming into place in his mind, and
as he redrew his pole, the hook caught his leg on the back swing. Pulling it
free allowed blood to trickle onto the deck. So much for fishing with a clear
head! Scorp turned the boat back towards Vesper and the slip that would take
him within walking distance from the house that had claimed his life so long
ago.
When Scorp came hobbling in he was more than happy to see Ophelia and N Muntz
already hard at work getting ready for this week's show. He was greeted and
told to go away, because they most certainly had things under control. Unsure
but tired, he acquiesced and retired to a cot upstairs. The blood-stained leg
gave Muntz the idea that it was time to unload the blood tiles lying around in
the chests, more than one had gathered waiting their turn to sell. Ophelia,
however, was in a more colorful mood as she admired a pile of skulls in the
corner while at the same time lifting bottles of colored hair dye out of
secured containers. The two acted as automatons for an hour and when it was
done sat back and saw that they had created, and it was good...
The
items chosen do not reflect a full list; items are always being added and there
will be more than a few great things added before the auction each week, thanks
to our generous submitters. We have a Skull Pile (an old tile that used to
spawn), Blood tiles in varying Directions, Half a dozen old school Colored Hair
dye bottles, Many Plants, Buckets, A set of 17 Double Slayer Bows, 2 Colored
Big Fish caught by DJ Scorp himself and titled so, The Ship Model rare, Many
Statues of all years, Soul stone Fragment Tokens, Khaldun Light, Speckled Eggs
and soo much more!
Majestic Oaks Auction runs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 Eastern as well as
coordinated weekly events every Monday at the MOA castle. For a full list visit

From the Desk of Malikae
Vanna definitely went BOOM at the castle tonight, not only from the boom
boom boxes but also, from Grendlyn's magical fingers. Grendlyn didn't mean to
kill Vanna but when the crowd chants, "Boom", "Boom" over and over... well...
what are we to do?
It was a fun night indeed with people being randomly selected from the crowd
and in response to MOA Trivia questions such as: "Which MOA Member's name rhymes
with "Rat"? and Who always dies when we play Chests of Doom &
Delight?
The big prize of the night was without a doubt the Ethereal Ki-Rin Statuette.
This little horsie saw more riders than the Pony Express as it passed through 9
sets of hands before being stolen by
Morlock.
Some of the nicer items up for grabs were:
- The New "Church at Night" vet award, taken by
Maxximus,
- A Lamppost, stolen by
John,
- A Tower Lantern, nabbed by
Jocktoo.
-
Matrix, will be on the high seas with 10 MIBs,
accompanied by
-
Sadie
with her Fabled Fishing Net.
- A 7 piece meddable 100% LRC Suit will be worn by
Darkhand,
and
Ori,
Twiztid,
Sum Ting Wong,
Black & Decker,
A Helping Hand, and
Ramza
will be crafting and casting with their 1k of Horned Leather, 1k of Wood, 1k of
Shadow Ingots, 1k of Bones, 1k of each Necro Reagent and 1k of each Magery
Reagent WITH a 15% LRC Spellbook!
Total prize package tonight included 24 very nice gifts. So remember to stop by
the castle next Monday, and every Monday night for your chance to great prizes

From the Pen of Ophelia
Twas a Thurdsay night,
a mid-Spring eve,
a notice of an outstanding event,
I received!
There were prizes and gold,
Fun for all kinds!
Where patrons and warriors,
Could go to unwind.
It was an MOA auction
With me in the lead,
Listing items and bidders,
And winners, indeed!
There was
DEADPOOL
and
FiFi,
Kuan Ti
and Scorp,
And of course who could live,
Without my witty retorts!
I saw armor and weapons,
And colored nets too;
There was free gold and cash,
It could have been you!
Two million we gave,
To some knowledgeable guests,
Who answered our queries
When put to the test.
Carpatheian
won an anvil,
And
Nord
nabbed a cow,
Nervous Capt. America
grabbed a shield,
After wiping his brow.
So come see us again,
We are quite the delight,
Come join in the fun,
On next Thursday night!

From the Desk of Natasha
Tuseday night, I joined the Lake Superior cast of MOA and had a great time.
The Lake Superior patrons are a great bunch of people and know how to have fun!
Among them were
Cap McRoy,
Raver Devua,
Artemis,
Woodsong,
Paro Parada,
Lord Pembroke,
Shara
and many, many others.
Blue Haze
listened closely to the rules and in turn she won the first 25k gold give away.
Chaotic
and
Sir Will
battled over 60k ingots, however Sir Will did manage to outbid Chaotic and was
the lucky winner. Blue Haze took home 10 very nice unenhanced luck items. So
here's hoping his sewing kits and hammers are strong and kind!
20k Iron Ingots and 10k of each other color ingot were available, a bidding war
ensued with the likes of Chaotic, Raver Devau,
Mace Bell
Jr.,
Andaril,
Edgar
and
Raistlin. However, they were outdone by
YouKnowImHot, who took them all. Raver Devua is
the proud new owner of a 14x14 Skara Brae Trammel House for the cool price of
1.4 million!
Everyone had a great time tonight, and I had a lot of fun watching things unfold
at Lake Superior!

Wednesday Auction Report
|
|
Posted May 05, 2005
|
|
From the Desk of Soul Blighter
The
afternoon started as many have before with me sifting thru the pile of ruble DJ
had fished up from a ship wreck while he was looking for that trophy fish more
amazing than any others had ever caught before. I do this often looking for
scrap iron to feed my pet golems that guard the storage house. All of a sudden
I remembered that I needed to get to the auction house a little early to meet
out beautiful new assistant Crystal to make sure she had everything she needed
for her first night. Much to my surprise when I arrived there was
Sin Blackshadow
and
Draco
Maxmilla
sitting lambasting
Matrix
for starting the fight the night before in the tavern. I must admit I also
joined in on the teasing. We had many a laughs long before the first item hit
the table. Amazingly Matrix still denies he started the fight even though many
patrons saw him flirting with other men's dates.
At a little past the hour the first item hit the auction table. A nicely crafted
gold metal box that
Paige
needed to keep her vast treasures in. After a nice little bidding war she
walked away with her prize. The next item to hit the table was a VERY RARE bust
of Jou'nar. I really think the crowd must have still been in a daze from going
thru the magical gates because Deacon Frost was able to absolutely steal this
nice little item. It didn't take long before everyone had regain their senses
when a battle began between
Kuan Ti,
Deadpool, the infamous
Matrix
and
Cabowa
for a very ugly statue of a Lizardman
We had many nice items go up last night such as: Guantlets of Nobility won by
Deacon Frost
for 4 mil!
A rare Bushel that was battled for by
Guyra,
Deadpool,
Erricson
and
Phlanex, with Phlanex getting it for 1.5 mil!
A 120 Provocation Scroll, It was obvious
Victoria's Secret
really wants to "provoke" someone she walked away with this little item for 1.5
mil!
A rare Green Beard Dye that
Carpatheian
nabbed for a mere 2.9 mil!
And the last big item that went up was an Open Book facing east that
Deadpool
Stole for a mere 6 mil!
I would like to thank the many people that attended and hope to see all of you
back next week!

This Week at MOA
|
|
Posted May 3rd, 2005
|
|
One late Tuesday in a tavern located so far from reality that it is only spoken
of in legend, five people sat in the rear of a tavern bustling with tons of
patrons enjoying the evening. These five were not so happy although they drank;
it was work which had brought them together, Pratt, Ethereal, Soul, Nemo and
Scorp each with a pile of papers to accompany their beverage of choice. The
Majestic Oaks team was gearing up for another week of auctions as Wednesday
threatened to rear its ugly head in just one more day. The staff could not
agree on what needed to sell this week as they discussed submissions. Soul
wanted structure, Nemo wanted to leave it up to fate and Pratt really did not
care he just wanted the night off. Ethereal yawned knowing she would accomplish
nothing with these men and sipped her wine trying to act interested in the
discussion.
A bar fight broke out across the room and havoc ensued, Soul grabbed up the
papers as brawlers threatened to overrun the barroom in seconds. Just in time
two patrons crashed into their once nice table spilling food and drink about as
they tried to scatter. Pratt recognized one of the struggling fighters to be
Matrix a familiar face and no doubt the start of it all. Nemo slammed his
upturned mug into Matrix's attackers skull as the man dropped lifelessly to the
ground. "Guys" Matrix said sloppily "I don't know what happened really he just
jumped on me for no reason!" "Bah" Pratt stated, "you either slept with his
girl or tried to for sure". Matrix began to protest but thought better of it
and decided to be gracious instead "thanks for the help, if I can do anything
to repay you all just ask". Four knowing looks and three of them were gone in
an instant, Soul was last and he handed the stack of papers to Matrix and
instructed him to pick 150 items for this week and report back to him. Before
he could object Soul too was gone leaving Matrix staring open mouthed, ok he
said to himself if you want me to do this then beware the results. A few hours
later a list appeared on Soul's desk including the following features of the
week and listed in total at www.uo-moa.net/
Matrix's picks of the week were A Bushel, A pair of Church at Night House deeds
(very cool and new), Four of the rarest Color Hair Dyes he could recall, An
Open Book, Neon Beard Dye, A Staff of the Magi, Some Large Potted Trees, A
gaggle of Statues and soo much more.

Monday Night Mayhem

Majestic Madness was true to
form with Twisted Trivia with a Pursuit. Contestants for the first round of
Jeopardy Style Trivia were
John,
Cabowa (D*M)
and
Lady Slave (Doh). While Lady Slave won this
round, taking home 75k, John, of the Yew Militia, camped the Sup DeWd
question set. In a super mana dump, John ganked the entire
category by spamming correct answers such as rez-kill.
The second round of
Jeopardy brought out many great players starting with
Familiar,
Ori
and
Rori (AOA)
and concluding with
James,
Eagle (Kof)
and
Magic (pvp).
You know how it always seems so easy on TV? Well
Familiar
was all to familiar with this as he ran away with the questions that had been
missed by the contestants in the first round and tossed out to the crowd.
However, when it was his turn to step up and take the stool... nothing.
Ori
was the big winner of round 2 taking home 85k. It was fairly obvious Ori's
spent quite a lot of time in the hen house and the Majestic Madness Castle as
he nearly swept both the "Chicken and the Egg" and the "Majestic Madness Monday
Night Mayhem" categories. Perhaps Ori was sent to the hen house for spending
too much time at the castle? We'll never know.
After Jeopardy, we handed our patrons the following clues and sent them on a
scavenger hunt.
1) Bang away! The neighbor's aren't home! (Drum)
2) What every coward needs. (Spine)
3) Nekkid chicken! (Raw Bird)
4) Battle strength pepper spray. (War Mace)
5) A little glass container of Complaints. (Bottle of Whine)
6) Two are better than one. (Head)
7) Disguise yourself in Clannish Camouflage. (Tribal Mask)
8) Yeah but can you use them on a dart board? (ninja darts - fugi?)
9) Do it, eat it, try to get it indirectly. (Fish)
10) Sting hopes that someone gets this. (Message in a Bottle)
Sir Blackie
&
Destiny
were the big winners bringing in 9 of the clues, for a win of 250k.
Victor
came in second and took home 150k and
Cabowa
took home 75k with a third place win.
Nykki,
Ramza
and
Familiar
each claimed 50k. It is always fun to see how people will interpret the clues.
The oddest item of the night was a Gazer statue. Sir Blackie and Destiny
claimed it was a really big head (Clue #6).
Speaking of clues... and we were...

Quite a few other great people also came to the castle to take home our gold to
the tune of 1.125 Million! Next week should be more of the same as the Majestic
Madness Crew brings you Chests of Doom and Delight. Same time same place.

Tonight at the Castle
|

Posted Monday, May 02, 2005
|
|
Tonight, Monday, May 2nd, 8pm
CST (9pm EST), the "Remnant" will be dumping gold from the castle vault to the
tune of Twisted Trivia with a Pursuit.
Twisted Trivia with a Pursit (TTwaP) is an ever changing game. Tonight, it will
take on the form of Jeopardy with categories such as "Sup DeWd" (UO
Slang) and questions like, "To remain in one spot, waiting for certain spawn"
(Camp). Easy enough - yes?
There will be six different categories, each with 5 questions worth 5k, 10k,
15k, 20k, and 25k. Contestants will be selected randomly and based on trivia
questions. If you answer a question correctly, you get the gold. If no one
answers correctly, the question and gold go to the crowd.
Trivia will last one hour and then be followed by a Scavenger Hunt where we
will look for 10 different items alluded to with clues such as "Two are better
than one." (in which case you would bring us a head). You will have one hour to
decode the clues and return to the castle with as many of the ten items that
you can come up with. Prizes for Scavenger Hunt are: 250k for 1st place, 150k
for 2nd, and 75k for 3rd.
Gates will be provided from Luna and West Brit Bank prior to the start of the
event.

CFC Saturday Night
|
|
Posted May 2nd, 2005

From the Desk of Ethereal
The patrons began filling the house at Chicken Fight Club on Saturday evening,
their voices mingling with the soft clucking of chickens. Early speculation on
who to back in the fights was starting, with patrons looking over the birds
gathered in the holding area. A couple of new chickens were piquing curiosity,
but it soon became apparent that there was one question on most people's minds:
where was Cannibal Chicken, the reigning champ?
It seems Cannibal came down with a mild case of bird flu, and was unable to
attend that evening. The guarantee of a new champ had most of the experienced
fight goers giving WhippyChicII the nod. While the betting took place prior to
the first round, Sweet Melody stepped up to do some early-bird trivia sponsored
by Rhen and Co. Sam and Cross Centaur were the first trivia winners of the
night.
The two new birds, Chickenator and Chucky, were the first pair in the ring.
Chucky emerged the victor in a brief flurry of feathers. Cattle Killer and
Popeye's were the next two to fight. Popeye's has been a promising up-and-comer
for several weeks now, and the crowd cheered him on as he trounced Cattle
Killer. The final fight in round one was between the heavy-weights Rooster
Cogbern and WhippyChicII. The fight was close, but Rooster seemed to stumble
near the end and tried to run. Whippy blocked his path and finished him off for
the win.
Now it was time for the half-time mare fights. Sadie won the draw, and brought
her nightmare Comfortably Numb to face the champion UNO. The crowd was shocked
to see the long-running champion UNO go down quickly to the challenger.
Comfortably Numb is the new mare fight champ! There was more trivia during the
break between chicken fights, too. Cross Centaur, Fision and Grigory were
winners there.
Back to the chicken fights, it was time for the semi-finals. Chucky took a brave
peck at Popeye's, but Popeye's was the clear winner of that round and went on
to face the formidable WhippyChicII for the final. Popeye's is definitely a
bird to watch in the future, but WhippyChicII, son of a former champion
himself, proved to be the best chicken in the ring that night. Final results
for the night were:
1st WhippyChicII
2nd Popeye's Chicken
3rd Chucky
Next week should be an interesting one if Cannibal Chicken is back in fighting
form, as both he and Whippy will be hungry to retain the champion title. New
trainers are always welcomed at CFC. If you wish to learn more about the fights
and how to enter, head on over to the CFC site,

MOA Web Contest Number Two!
|
|
Posted April 29th, 2005
|
|
From the Desk of Ethereal
The first MOA web contest has wrapped up.
Odin,
Tia, and
Anderus
all e-mailed the correct answer, "Mephitis". Unfortunately, there were only
three correct entries, which means that 750k went unclaimed last week. So, we
will roll that prize money into this week's contest, bringing each of six
prizes to 375k!
Now, on to the details of this week's MOA web contest! Since the Order of the
Ebony Knights so kindly donated the trivia prizes for our first contest
kick-off, we are returning the favor and featuring the new OEK Rune Library in
the contest this week. The library, called OEK Needful Things, is very easy to
find, being a short distance from the MOA auction house and just outside Vesper
at 54 N, 97 E.
As in our first contest, you will need to collect letters and use them to spell
out a common UO word. There are seven letters in all, one clue given out in
each story this week, starting with the Wednesday wrap-up story. Here is your
second clue:
L3 R2 S1 B2 4
That may look rather cryptic, so let me explain.
There are 3 levels (floors) of runes in the library, so the first number refers
to the level. In our picture here, we are on the second level, or L2. There are
4 rows of shelves; with the cursor pointing to the first Row, and the first
Shelf in that row, or R1 S1. From top to bottom in each shelf, there are seven
books. If you guessed that the cursor is pointing to B5 (book 5 from the top)
you are right! The last number refers to the runes in the book itself. If the
last number in the clue was 4, you would look at the 4th rune, which says
"Nightmares" in our example. The first letter of the rune name is the letter
you are looking for, so if "L2 R1 S1 B5 4" was a clue, you would have the
letter N as one of the seven letters. (this is NOT a clue, by the way!)
Note that in some runebooks, a "spacer rune" is used to divide the book into
sections. This spacer rune is counted!
Once you have all seven letters, e-mail your guess to
contest@uo-moa.net . The first six correct answers will win 375k each!
Once again this week, we will announce three winners during each auction
Wednesday and Thursday night. Good luck, everyone!

Wednesday Wrap-Up
|
|
Posted April 27th, 2005
|
|
From the Desk of Ethereal
Here is a quick recap of the action on Wednesday night.
The auction opened with a bang as four patrons battled it out over a full white
6th anniversary bag.
Deadpool
won it at 1.5 million. Other hot items for the night included a cow statue, won
by
Ithido Zoate
for 1.6, a bucket of water won by
Mira
at 1.3, a 71 resists, 5LMC, 14 LRC gorget won by
Featherforge
for 2.2, and the mystery chest which was won by
Odin.
Of course there were plenty of gold giveaways, too! Trivia winners for the night
were:
Henry Zoate
(twice!),
Anderus,
FiFi LaForge,
Matrix
and
vivi. Many patrons were anxious for the first
three website contest winners to be announced. Grigory eventually took pity on
them and awarded prizes of 250k each to
Odin,
Tia
and
Anderus. Don't forget that there will be three
more winners announced during Thursday night's auction, and there is still a
chance for you to be one of them if you get your entry in quickly enough! Check
here for details on that.
A few people have asked what happens now that this contest is over. Well, of
course we start another one! I will give more details on that tomorrow, but as
a teaser, here is your first clue:
